92.47% of district's 7.17 lakh voters digitised; Draft electoral roll to be published on Aug 13
Ferozepur, August 7, 2026: The house-to-house enumeration phase under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has been successfully completed across Ferozepur district, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Deep Shikha Sharma, announced on Friday.
She said the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), launched by the Election Commission of India on June 25, will continue until October 12. The first phase involving door-to-door enumeration concluded successfully on August 3 with the dedicated efforts of the election machinery.
The District Election Officer credited the success of the exercise to the coordinated efforts of 903 Booth Level Officers (BLOs), 91 supervisors, four Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), and other election staff. She also thanked political parties and the media for their cooperation throughout the campaign.
Sharing the district's progress report, Sharma said that out of a total of 7,17,773 registered voters, 6,63,744 enumeration forms have been received and digitised, accounting for 92.47 per cent of the electorate. Forms could not be obtained from 54,029 voters, including 20,707 deceased voters and 24,442 persons who had permanently shifted to other places.
She informed that the draft electoral roll will be published on August 13 and copies will be made available to recognised political parties, the District Election Office, Electoral Registration Officers, and Booth Level Officers. Voters whose names are missing from the draft roll may submit Form 6 to the concerned ERO or BLO between August 13 and September 12 for inclusion.
The District Election Officer further said that notices will be issued from August 13 to 35,251 voters whose records remain unverified. They will be required to submit any one of the 12 documents prescribed by the Election Commission of India, such as a birth certificate or educational qualification certificate, following which the Electoral Registration Officer will conduct hearings before passing orders. The final electoral roll will be published on October 12, 2026.
She also said that following the Election Commission's rationalisation exercise, the number of polling stations in Ferozepur district has increased from 903 to 932, with the addition of 29 new polling booths.
Appealing to residents, political parties and media representatives, DC urged them to extend the same level of cooperation during the remaining phases of the Special Intensive Revision to ensure the successful completion of the exercise.
