CAO holds meeting with Pellet Plants, Biomass Units to strengthen paddy stubble management
Ferozepur, August 7, 2026: In a bid to prevent incidents of paddy stubble burning during the forthcoming harvesting season, Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO) Dr Balwinder Singh held a meeting with owners of pellet plants, representatives of biomass plants and baler owners of the district, following the directions of Deputy Commissioner Deep Shikha Sharma.
During the meeting, pellet plant owners highlighted several operational challenges, including narrow approach roads, low-hanging electricity wires and other infrastructure-related issues affecting the transportation and handling of paddy straw.
Representatives of pellet plants, biomass units and industries assured the district administration that they would maximise the utilisation of paddy straw during the upcoming season and extend full cooperation to the Agriculture Department in reducing stubble-burning incidents.
Dr Balwinder Singh stressed that scientific management of paddy residue is the need of the hour and said that coordinated efforts by the administration, industries and farmers are essential for ensuring a clean environment and making the district free from stubble burning. He urged all stakeholders to work in close coordination for the effective management of paddy straw.
CAO also appealed to baler owners to avoid shifting their machinery to other districts during the harvesting season so that paddy straw in Ferozepur can be managed efficiently and on time.
Among those present were Sukhraj Singh, General Manager, District Industries Centre, and other officials of the Agriculture Department.
