Post Poll Lok Sabha 2024 Analysis: Major political improve poll percentage in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, June 8, 2024: The winner for Lok Sabha elections in Ferozepur during 2024 was Sher Singh Ghubaya by getting 2,66,626 votes which comes to 23% defeating the nearest rival of AAP candidate Jagdip Singh Kaka Brar, MLA from Muktsar, who secured 2,63,384 votes (23.41%).
Out of the total voters of 16,70,008 in the Ferozepur Lok Sabha constituency, 11,17,934 votes with 6,100 as NOTA votes were polled.
In the 2019 parliamentary elections, the Ferozepur constituency had a total of 16,18,419 electors. The total number of valid votes cast was 11,72,033. Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Sukhbir Singh Badal emerged as the winner, securing a total of 6,33,427 votes. Indian National Congress candidate Sher Singh Ghubaya came in second with a total of 434,577 votes. Singh lost by a margin of 198,850 votes. This constituency recorded a significant voter turnout of 72.30% in the year 2019. While the NOTA votes were 14891 in 2019 and 6100 in 2024.
During the last 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Harinder Singh Kaka Sran was the candidate of Aam Aadmi Party who sured only 31,872 votes which was only 2.72 percent of the total votes. But Hans Raj Golden CPI candidate cold get 26,128 votes (2.33%).
During the current elections, Jagdeep Singh Kaka Brar got toal 2,63,384 votes which is 23.42% of total votes polled, which means increase of 21.09%.
The votes polled in the 9 Assembly Constituencies were – Ferozepur City 16976, Ferozepour Rural 34398, Fazilka 28479, Balluana 28296, Jalalabad 3506, Abohar 20321, Guruharsahai 25398, Malout 31,976 and Mukatsar 40393 votes.
Added here, Ferozepur constituency, out of 9 has 8 MLAs of AAP party barring Abohar. In only two constituencies, Ferozepur City and Abohar, it could do well but has given a tough fight. While the other two parties Rana Sodhi from BJP got 2,55,097 votes who lost with a margin of 11529 votes, and Nardev Singh Bobby Mann got 253645 votes and lsot with margin of 12981 votes.
This votes have been divided due to the break in alliance of SAD and BJP and both the parties have fielded their candidates independently.
The social fabric of Ferozepur, including caste and community dynamics, can influence electoral outcomes. The support or lack thereof from key community groups could have impacted AAP’s chances.
In-depth analysing the statistics the political and social landscape of Ferozepur during 2024 elections, it can be said that the major political parties have made their vote banks for the coming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections and to win, would not be an easy task for which the ground level work has to be done throughout the intervening period.
