SKM slams Punjab Govt for arresting farmers leaders, blocking internet at protest sites

Chandigarh, March 19, 2025: The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has strongly condemned the Punjab government's decision to arrest several farmer leaders, including Jagjeet Singh Dallewal and Sarwan Singh Pandher, immediately after they returned to Punjab following discussions with the Union government in Chandigarh.
"The Punjab government has also deployed heavy police forces at Khanauri and Shambhu borders, where protests continue, and has blocked internet services in the region," read the statement issued by SKM.
SKM accused the AAP-led Punjab government of siding with corporate and multinational interests in agriculture and aligning with the RSS-BJP central government. The organization alleged that this crackdown followed a recent meeting between top AAP leaders and industrialists, signaling a deeper collaboration against farmers' interests.
SKM asserted that the government's strong-arm tactics against peaceful protesters indicate a reluctance to resolve the key livelihood and survival issues raised by farmers across India.
