"No One Will Be Spared": CM Mann takes hard line as vigilance raids AAP MLA Raman Arora
Babushahi Bureau
Chandigarh, May 23, 2025 — In a dramatic turn that underscores the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government's stance against corruption, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Raman Arora has come under the scanner of the state's Vigilance Bureau.
The move marks a significant moment in the government's anti-corruption campaign, as action has now reached the ranks of its own party.Following the raids, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann issued a powerful statement, shared via AAP Punjab's official social media channels:
“Corruption will not be tolerated—whether it’s our own or someone else. No one will be spared. There is no place for corruption in Punjab!”
The statement has sent shockwaves through the political landscape, reinforcing the Chief Minister’s resolve to root out corruption irrespective of political affiliations or rank.
Raids on Jalandhar Central MLA Spark Political Storm
According to official sources, the Vigilance Bureau launched raids against MLA Raman Arora, who represents Jalandhar Central, after multiple public complaints. Arora is alleged to have used municipal officials to send fraudulent notices to local residents—only to have those notices "cancelled" in exchange for bribes.
The government reportedly took the complaints seriously and authorized a formal investigation. Sources confirm that the raids were based on substantial preliminary evidence pointing to abuse of power and extortion tactics.
Security Withdrawal Hinted at Trouble
In a precursor to today’s events, the Punjab government had withdrawn the security cover provided to MLA Arora days earlier. At the time, Arora publicly accepted the decision, stating, “I am a worker of Aam Aadmi Party. If the government deems it right to remove my security, I accept that.”
CM Mann Draws a Line in the Sand
This is not the first time CM Bhagwant Mann has acted decisively against corruption, but targeting a sitting MLA from his own party marks a significant escalation. It sends a clear message that the fight against corruption in Punjab will not be selective or symbolic.
“This government will not shield the guilty. Whether it’s a junior officer or a senior MLA, the law is the same for all,” said a senior government official.
