Rupnagar (Punjab), May 24, 2025: In a swift breakthrough, Rupnagar Police arrested five individuals—including a woman—within 11 hours of a gold robbery and successfully recovered the stolen ornaments.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rupnagar, Gulneet Singh Khurana, stated that on May 23 at around 11:15 AM, three unidentified assailants barged into the residence of Mrs. Pragati Jain, wife of Mr. Akshay Jain, in Ranjit Avenue, Rupnagar. The intruders threatened her with a sharp weapon and fled with four gold bangles weighing approximately 40 grams.
An FIR (No. 116 dated 23.05.2025) was registered under Sections 332(C), 309(4), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station City Rupnagar.
Multiple teams from the District Police and CIA, under the supervision of DSP Rajpal Singh Gill and led by SHO Pawan Kumar, launched an immediate investigation.
Based on CCTV footage and intelligence, the police arrested Navjot Singh and Akashdeep Singh alias Pintu, both residents of Phool Kalan, and Sukhwinder Singh alias Deepu, resident of Asron, SBS Nagar.
During interrogation, they confessed to carrying out the robbery at the behest of their acquaintance Ravi Kumar, who offered them ₹1 lakh to snatch the bangles.
The police later arrested Ravi Kumar and Shilpa Jain, wife of Rakesh Jain, a resident of Jain Mahalla, Rupnagar, who were also allegedly involved in planning the crime. The third accused in the conspiracy, identified as Tony from Rail Majra, is currently absconding and efforts are underway to apprehend him.
Authorities have recovered all four stolen gold bangles and two motorcycles used in the crime. The arrested individuals are being presented in court today for police remand, and officials believe the gang may be linked to other similar incidents.
SSP Khurana assured the public that Rupnagar Police remain committed to rooting out crime and protecting the life and property of citizens.
