Rs. 14 Lakh cash recovered from SDM arrested by Vigilance Bureau

Batala, November 22, 2025: Vigilance Bureau has recovered Rs. 50 thousand bribe money from SDM Batala Bikramjeet Singh. After Bureau officials carried out a search at his residence at 10.00 PM last night Rs. 13 lakh 50 thousand was recovered in cash. Vigilance has registered FIR No 44 dated 21.11.2025 u/s/ 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 at Vigilance Bureau Range Amritsar.

Complainant Amarpal Singh s/o Gurdial Singh r/o BCO Complex Batala has complained to Vigilance that he had carried out patch work of road under MC Batala for which had to get amount of Rs. 3,72,852. When he approached Bikramjeet Singh who is also Commissioner MC Batala, he demanded a commission of 10 percent on the bill amount and asked him to meet SDO Rohit Uppal. His another Bill of Rs. 1,81,543 was also pending which was for instruments supplied for light and sound show. Thus his total amount due was Rs. 5,54,395. SDO Rohit Uppal who told him to follow instructions of Commissioner.
He later approached Vigilance Bureau and filed his complaint after which a trap was laid and SDM cum Commissioner was caught red handed.
