Railway warns against flying kites near Tracks-OHE Wires, cites risk to life
Ferozepur, January 12, 2026: The Ferozepur Railway Division has launched a special public awareness campaign to caution railway passengers and the general public against flying kites near railway tracks and overhead electric (OHE) wires, highlighting the serious risk to life and property.
As part of its ongoing safety initiatives within railway premises, the division has emphasized that OHE lines carry a high-voltage electric current of 25,000 volts. If a kite string comes into contact with these live wires, it can result in severe electric shock, serious accidents, or even loss of life.
Railway officials noted that children often unknowingly fly kites near railway tracks and OHE installations, which can prove extremely dangerous.
Appealing to the public, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Parmdeep Singh Saini urged parents and guardians to make children aware of the dangers posed by OHE wires and ensure that kites are not flown near railway tracks. The Ferozepur Division has sought active cooperation from citizens to help prevent avoidable accidents and ensure railway safety.
