Chandigarh, May 12, 2026: Nayab Singh Saini, Chief Minister of Haryana, has approved ₹621.90 lakh for the installation of 50 shallow tubewells along the Gurgaon Canal/Rajasthan Link Canal to tackle the long-standing problem of waterlogging in several villages of Nuh district.
According to an official spokesperson, the project will be implemented under the scheme “Ground Water Development and Other Related Activities” and aims to strengthen irrigation infrastructure and improve groundwater management in the state.
The spokesperson said more than 15 villages in Nuh have been facing severe waterlogging for years due to continuously high groundwater levels. As a result, thousands of acres of agricultural land remain submerged and unsuitable for cultivation, causing heavy difficulties for farmers every crop season.
To address the issue permanently, the state government has decided to install 50 shallow tubewells along the Gurgaon Canal and Rajasthan Link Canal. These tubewells will help drain excess water from fields, reduce waterlogging and make large stretches of farmland cultivable again.
Officials said the project is expected to provide major relief to farmers in the affected villages and help restore agricultural activities on thousands of acres of land.
The office of the Chief Engineer/YWS and Superintending Engineer, YWS Circle Faridabad, has been designated as the nodal agency for implementing and monitoring the project.
The Haryana Government said the initiative is part of its broader efforts to strengthen irrigation facilities, improve groundwater development and safeguard farmers’ interests across the state.
