FIR lodged against Akali leader Bunty Romana; SAD to move High Court

Faridkot (Punjab), May 22, 2026: Political tensions escalated in Faridkot during the ongoing Municipal Council elections after Shiromani Akali Dal leader Parambans Singh Bunty Romana and several unidentified supporters were booked by police on charges of obstructing government duty.
The case was registered following a major commotion at the SDM office, where heated scenes were reportedly witnessed amid election-related developments.
According to police action taken by the Faridkot administration, Bunty Romana and his supporters have been accused of creating obstruction during official proceedings.
Reacting strongly to the FIR, the Akali Dal leadership announced that the party would now approach the Punjab and Haryana High Court against what it termed the administration’s action.
