Supreme Court Collegium recommends four Judges as Chief Justices of High Courts

New Delhi, August 9, 2026: The Supreme Court Collegium, at its meeting held on August 6, 2026, recommended the elevation of four judges as Chief Justices of various High Courts.
According to the Collegium’s statement, Justice V. Kameswar Rao, currently serving in the Delhi High Court, has been recommended as Chief Justice of the Patna High Court.
Justice Ravindra V. Ghuge of the Bombay High Court has been recommended as Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court, while Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi of the Allahabad High Court has been recommended as Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court.
The Collegium has also recommended Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra, currently serving in the Punjab and Haryana High Court and originally from the Allahabad High Court, to continue as Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
