Sadar Police Seize 1.8 Kg heroin, Rs 4.02 Lakh drug money; 22-year-old arrested
Ferozepur, August 8, 2026: Continuing its intensified campaign against drug trafficking, Ferozepur police have seized 1.800 kg of heroin and ₹4.02 lakh in suspected drug money from the Lakha Singh Wala area under Sadar police station. A 22-year-old youth has been arrested in connection with the recovery, while further investigation is underway to establish the source of the contraband and its wider links, including possible cross-border connections.
DSP Sukhwinder Singh confirmed the recovery, stating that the contraband and cash were found concealed in a bag filled with straw on the rear side of a brick kiln near the Lakha Singh Wala area. The recovery was made on the basis of specific intelligence received by the police.
According to police, the SHO of Sadar police station immediately acted upon the information and a police team was dispatched to the spot. The recovered heroin and cash were taken into possession in accordance with legal procedure and the investigation was initiated.
Police said the arrested accused is only 22 years old and further questioning is expected to reveal where the heroin was procured and identify other persons involved in the drug network. Officials said the accused allegedly appeared to have been attracted by the prospect of making quick money through illegal drug trafficking.
Police have reiterated that young people opting for such activities in pursuit of easy money ultimately face serious legal consequences.
Officials said that around 440 kg of heroin has already been seized during the tenure of SSP Bhupinder Singh as part of the district police’s intensified anti-drug campaign.
