Punjab School Games Ferozepur Zone-1 Chess Championship held in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, August 8, 2026: Punjab School Games Ferozepur Zone-1 Chess Championship was organised at DCM Model Senior Secondary School with the participation of talented chess players from several prominent schools, including Delhi Public School, St. Joseph’s Convent School, Sunshine Modern CB School, School of Eminence and DCM Model Senior Secondary School.
The championship was inaugurated by Principal Yachna Chawla, who made the first move on the chessboard. Addressing the participants, she said chess was not merely a game of victory and defeat but helped develop patience, discipline, concentration, strategic thinking and decision-making skills. She urged the students to participate with confidence and true sporting spirit.
DCM Model School players delivered an impressive performance, winning four medals. In the boys’ category, the school secured gold medals in Under-17 and Under-19, besides a silver medal in Under-14. The girls’ Under-19 team also clinched gold.
According to Deputy Principal Manish Banga, won gold in Boys Under-19, while Delhi Public School secured silver. In Boys Under-17, DCM won gold and DPS silver. In Boys Under-14, St. Joseph’s Convent won gold and DCM silver.
In Girls Under-19, DCM won gold and School of Eminence silver. School of Eminence won gold in Girls Under-17, with DPS taking silver, while DPS won gold in Girls Under-14 and School of Eminence secured silver.
