Census 2027: Punjab Census Director reviews preparations for Phase-II in SBS Nagar

SBS Nagar (Punjab), September 2, 2026: Punjab Director of Census Operations Dr. Navjot Khosa, IAS, on Wednesday reviewed the preparedness for Phase-II of Census 2027, covering Population Enumeration, during a meeting at the District Administrative Complex in SBS Nagar.
The review meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner-cum-Principal Census Officer Gurpreet Singh Aulakh, IAS, ADC (General) Sanjeev Sharma, PCS, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, Tehsildars/Executive Officers, Charge Officers and other officials assigned census-related duties.
At the outset, Dr. Khosa appreciated the dedicated efforts of the Charge Officers and field-level functionaries, which she said had contributed to the successful and timely completion of Phase-I of Census 2027, covering House Listing and Housing Census operations in the district.
Emphasising the importance of advance planning and effective coordination among departments, the Director directed officials to complete all pending Census-related activities within the prescribed timelines.
She also instructed the Principal Census Officers and other Census officials to ensure that all necessary administrative and logistical arrangements were put in place well in advance for the smooth and efficient conduct of Population Enumeration.
The Deputy Commissioner assured the Director that the district administration would provide all necessary support and ensure completion of Census-related activities within the stipulated timeframe, in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, India.
During the meeting, officials also discussed a detailed roadmap for the timely and smooth conduct of Phase-II of Census 2027.
Reviewing the preparation of the District Census Handbook (DCHB), Dr. Khosa directed all Charge Officers to expedite the compilation and vetting of Village Directory and Town Directory data.
She instructed the officials to ensure that the compilation and verification process is completed in all respects before the prescribed deadline of September 8, 2026. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks.
