DC, SSP Visit Fazilka Rehabilitation Centre; Urge Youth to Shun Drugs

Fazilka, June 20, 2025 –
As part of the Punjab Government’s ongoing anti-drug campaign “Yudh Nashian De Virudh” launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu and Senior Superintendent of Police Gurmeet Singh on Friday visited the Rehabilitation Centre at Jattwali to review services and encourage patients undergoing treatment.
During the visit, the officials interacted with recovering individuals, offering words of motivation and support. The Deputy Commissioner directed health department officials to prioritise patient counselling and promote healthy lifestyle practices. She stressed the importance of involving patients in creative and engaging activities to strengthen their resolve to overcome addiction.
Addressing the youth at the centre, SSP Gurmeet Singh emphasised the value of life and the support of loved ones. He urged them to break free from substance abuse and rebuild their lives with purpose and positivity.
The officials also inspected the OOAT (Outpatient Opioid Assisted Treatment) Clinic and interacted with patients receiving medication. They underlined the need to maintain a supportive and respectful environment to ensure early and complete recovery.
Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Eric briefed that Drug De-addiction Centres are functioning at Abohar and Fazilka, with a Rehabilitation Centre operating at Jattwali. He added that OOAT Clinics provide free medications without requiring hospital admission, and patient identity is kept strictly confidential.
Rehabilitation Centre Manager Sandeep Chopra was also present during the visit.
