New Commissioner Police Appointed for the Capital; This IPS Officer Given Charge

Senior IPS officer SBK Singh has been given the additional charge of Commissioner of Police, Delhi . Belonging to the AGMUT cadre and a 1988 batch officer, Singh brings over 30 years of extensive experience, having served in key positions across Delhi Police, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), Arunachal Pradesh, and Puducherry.
Currently serving as Director General of Home Guards, Singh has held many important roles in Delhi Police throughout his career. Early in his career, he served as Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) in Karol Bagh, followed by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) South, DCP Northeast, and DCP Central districts. He has also led the Economic Offences Wing (EOW).
His responsibilities expanded to roles including Joint Police Commissioner (Crime), Special Police Commissioner (Intelligence and Security), and ultimately Special Commissioner for Law and Order. In his last posting as Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), he supervised 85 police stations spread across seven of Delhi's 14 districts.
On the international security front, SBK Singh was the Security Chief during US President Barack Obama’s visit to India on Republic Day 2015. The same year, he also oversaw security arrangements for the Indo-Africa Forum Summit held in October, which hosted heads and representatives from 54 countries.
His appointment as Delhi CP comes at a critical time, entrusting him with the responsibility to maintain law and order in the nation’s capital.
