Chandigarh, May 24, 2025: Following the arrest of AAP MLA Raman Arora by the Vigilance Bureau, Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema issued a strong statement underscoring the government's zero-tolerance stance on corruption.
Speaking to the media, Cheema said, “Anyone involved in corruption—regardless of their political affiliation—will be sent to jail. Raman Arora’s arrest is part of our party’s clear policy of zero tolerance against corruption.”
Cheema took a swipe at rival parties, stating, “For years, the Congress, Akali Dal, and BJP filled Punjab with corruption. But times have changed. The people of Punjab gave us a majority to clean the system. If any AAP leader is found guilty of corruption, strict action will be taken—no exceptions.”
A Strong Message from the AAP Government
He emphasized that the arrest serves as proof that the Aam Aadmi Party is committed to its promises and is not afraid to act against its own members. “Our priority is honesty and transparency, and we are determined to lead Punjab on that path,” Cheema added.
Voices Within the Party
Party sources revealed that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has already made it clear that any leader found involved in corruption will face immediate and uncompromising action. Raman Arora’s arrest is part of that ongoing internal accountability.
Reassurance to the Public
Cheema concluded by assuring the public that the government’s top priority is to maintain the trust of the people. “Our party is setting a new example of honesty in politics, and even stricter measures will follow to ensure clean governance,” he said.
