Chandigarh, May 7, 2020: It seems former DGP Punjab Sumedh Saini, who had a checkered career, can’t keep controversies at bay even in his retirement.
His past indiscretions caught up with him on Wednesday, May 6, when Punjab Police lodged an FIR against him and 7 Chandigarh Police personnel for the disappearance of Balwant Singh Multani in 1991.
Multani, son of a Punjab IAS officer, was picked up by Chandigarh Police after a terrorist attack on Saini, who was then SSP Chandigarh, in which four of his gunmen were killed.
The complaint against Saini and others was lodged by Multani’s brother at Mataur Police Station, SAS district.
Interestingly, Saini was stopped early today at around 4 am from entering Himachal Pradesh as he didn’t have a valid pass.
