Professor Gurbhajan Gill gifts his 22 poetry books to his Alma Mater SCD Govt College Library
Alumni Association says Prof Gurbhajan lit the literary lamps so befittingly by gifting his books

Ludhiana, November 12, 2023: On the eve of Diwali,Professor Gurbhajan Gill gifts 22 of his poetry books written in Punjabi, Hindi & Shahmukhi to his Alma Mater SCD Govt. College Ludhiana library.
While handing over the books to Brij Bhushan Goyal, the Alumni Coordinator of the college, he recalled his interaction with his learned Punjabi professors like Dr Sher Singh, Prof. Vidya Bhaskar Arun, Prof. Kirpal Singh Abhilashi and Prof. Mohinder Singh Cheema who taught him in the first year.
He recalls his friend and fellow students Shamsher Singh Sandhu and Manjit Singh Chhabra too .
In the 2nd year the great literary geniuses teachers the like of Mrs Tej Kaur Dardi, Dr Gurcharan Singh, Satparkash Kaur and Prof Harminder Singh.
He recalled the motherly warmth received from Prof Tej Kaur Dardi.
Prof. Gurbhajan Gill recalls how all these writer teachers remained so hard in the desired discipline with the students of Punjabi Literature in the college in respect of quality writing which he gratefully acknowledges while handing over his own poetry books for the college.
Not only that, he said that the influence of other teachers on him was not less, though they taught other subjects but all were great literary figures of those times- particularly Prof. Surinder Singh Narula, Dr. Tejwant Singh Gill . Prof Mastana, Prof Kulwant Singh Gill and Prof Baljit Singh Grewal who influenced his thought process to mature .
He recalls as to how in those student days they were exposed to the interaction of eminent writers like Pash, Khurshid,Mukhtar Singh Gill, Mohanjit and Surjit Patar, he terms those times as the wonderful one as listening them wrenched him and many other students in the literary flavour.
He also recalls the founding members of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle who mooted the idea of this great initiative in the college in his presence.
Prof. Gill further recalls about the award of Gold Medal in the poetic recitation contest in the poetry of Shiv Kumar Batalvi organized by Punjab University then.
He recalls while feeling all the warmth of the coat loaned by Shamsher Sandhu as Gill put on that when he was to receive an award in the college from Dr B D Jatti, who was the then VP of India.
While narrating many such anecdotes with students and teachers of his great Alma Mater, he felt gratitude towards his Alma Mater about the grinding he got here to fine tune his writings. Prof. Gurbhajan Gill is happy that his Alma Mater completes 100 plus years in his own lifetime.
Prof. Gill thanked Goyal of Alumni Association for his untiring efforts for the project of collecting all the books for the Alumni Authored Books Shelves in the college in the separate space earmarked by the authorities for the purpose to inspire new generation and posterity of students towards interest in reading literature and also get writing insights. Punjabi literature students as well as teachers are likely to benefit immensely from Gill’s literary achievements as his precious books are in his own Alma Mater.
