12th Edition of CLF Literati-2024 commences with a soulful musical evening – Aaghaaz: Shaam-E-Ghazal

Chandigarh, November 22, 2024: The 12th Edition of Chandigarh Lit Fest (CLF) Literati-2024 being organised by the Chandigarh Literary Society (CLS) commenced on Friday with an inaugural musical evening - 'Aaghaaz: Shaam-E-Ghazal’ featuring renowned artist Kanwar Jagmohan at Rani Laxmi Bai Bhawan, Sector 38, Chandigarh.
The evening was organised by CLS in collaboration with Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi (CSNA). The superlative rendition of ghazals by Kanwar Jagmohan regaled the audience.
Dr Sumita Misra, IAS, Festival Director of CLF Literati-2024 and Chairperson of CLS said, “The musical evening was a precursor to the literary action which 'CLF Literati 2024' will showcase on November 23 -24 at Chandigarh Lake Club. The festival is bringing a power-packed line-up of authors and interesting literary sessions.”
The festival will resume on November 23 on a melodious note with a musical performance, “Chords from the Heart” by Pt Subhash Ghosh. An address will be delivered by Dr Sumita Misra thereafter the inaugural address will be delivered by Madhav Kaushik, President of the Rashtriya Sahitya Akademi.
One of the key highlights will be the national launch of ‘Ratan Tata: A Life,’ a compelling new biography by Dr Thomas Mathew, a retired bureaucrat. An interactive session, ‘The Legend Lives On – A Man Called Ratan Tata’, that will feature Dr. Thomas Mathew, is also on the cards.
A session titled “Punjab: The Jallianwala Bagh Tragedy and the Narratives Around It,” will feature Navtej Sarna, former Ambassador of USA and Kishwar Desai an award-winning author, playwright and historian. In “Punjab Di Zubaan: Young Poets Discuss Punjabi Poetry in Current Times”.
“Legal Landmarks: Charting the Path of Justice,” will witness an insightful session with Pinky Anand a renowned lawyer and politician who has served as an Additional Solicitor General at the Supreme Court of India and lawyer Saudamini Sharma.
The festival will also celebrate stories of bravery and courage in “Voices of Valour: Stories of Bravehearts,” with Generals Ian Cardozo and Syed Ata Hasnain.
“Ink and Imagination: Crafting Poetic Worlds” will see Dr Sumita Misra, a prominent poet of contemporary India and the recipient of multiple Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi Awards, in conversation with writer Aradhika Sharma.
Another interesting session “Daddy in the Driver’s Seat: A Single Father’s Experiences” will feature Bollywood actor Tusshar Kapoor who has ventured into writing with his debut book ‘Bachelor Dad: My Journey,’ a memoir that explores his experiences as a single father of his son.
Three books are slated to be launched in the 'Book Buzz' segment and there will be a lot in store for literature enthusiasts on the concluding day -November 24 as well.
