Lok Sabha Elections 2024: 18 nominations filed on 5th day in Ferozepur including Kaka Brar, Rana Sodhi, Ghubaya
Ferozepur, May 13, 2024: On the 5th day of filing nominations for the Lok Sabha Elections scheduled for Punjab on June 1, 18 major political parties and independent candidates filed their papers and in total, 29 candidates have filed so far. The nominations were submitted at the office of Returning Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Dhiman.
Major political party candidates have submitted two nominations, one as a covering candidate in the event of rejection of papers.
Returning Officer Lok Sabha Constituency 10- Ferozepur Rajesh Dhiman said today is the fifth day of filing nominations for the Lok Sabha elections. Candidates Sher Singh Ghubaya (Congress), Varinder Singh Ghubaya (Congress), Sukhdev Singh (Independent), Surinder Kamboj (BSP), Sweta Kamboj (BSP ), Deepak Kumar (Independent), Harpreet Singh (Independent), Jagdeep Singh Kaka Brar (AAP), Narinder Kaur (AAP), Gurmeet Singh Sodhi (BJP), Anumeet Singh Sodhi (BJP), Gurpreet Singh (Independent), Pritam Singh (Independent) and Ajit Singh (Independent) filed his nomination papers.
He said that the last date for filing nominations is May 14 and if anyone wants to submit nomination papers, they can submit them on May 14 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. So far a total of 29 nomination papers have been filed.
RO-cum-DC said that the scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on May 15 and the return of nominations could be by May 17. Polling will be held on June 1, 2024 and counting on June 4, 2024.
He urged the representatives of all political parties to follow the Mode Code of Conduct (MCC) strictly. He said that during the entire election process, a candidate cannot spend more than Rs. 95 lac on his election campaign and payment of more than Rs.20,000 can be made only through a cheque. He also said that it is mandatory to enter the expenditure incurred by the candidate in the expenditure register.
