BJP/ JJP candidates face voters resentment in some assembly segments

Gurugram, April 6, 2024: While the BJP scored in the current Lok Sabha elections in Haryana by declaring all candidates well in time, some of these candidates are now facing stiff resistance and protests from their voters in at some places.
The latest to the list is the incumbent MP and BJP candidate from Rohtak Dr Arvind Sharma. Sharma, who arrived for campaigning Friday evening at village Sudharana of Kosli assembly constituency, was booed away by the residents who refused to even hear him out.
The villagers accused Sharma of forgetting the assembly segment for five years even though it was this assembly segment in Rohtak which helped him win in 2019 against Congress leader and current Rajya Sabha MP Deepender Hooda.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Dr. Arvind Sharma defeated Deepender Hooda, son of former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, by about 7 thousand votes. The biggest reason for the same was cited that around 75 thousand were secured by Sharma in Kosli.
The residents said that Sharma never returned the favour by paying attention and raised slogans against him. Despite all attempts of Sharma and his team to pacify them, he was forced to leave.
This is not the first instance in the state as earlier BJP candidate from Hisar seat Ranjit Chautala and Sonipat seat candidate Mohan Lal Badoli had also faced similar opposition over the last two days.
Chautala had to face opposition from farmers during the election campaign two days ago on April 4. Farmers associated with ‘Pagri Sambhal Jatta Kisan Sangharsh Samiti’ raised slogans in village Shamsukh of Agroha block in Hisar and disrupted his ongoing public meeting.
The police had to intervene and Chautala had to abort his speech midway and quit. He, answering back the farmers, asked them not to vote for a party if they don’t like it but the entire country was voting for them.
A day earlier, the villagers had opposed the BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Sonipat, Mohanlal Badoli, in village Nandgarh of Jind district. Badoli was confronted on lack of any development work in the last five years and he shifted blame on the outgoing MP.
Villagers however refused to calm down and raised slogans while Badoli exited, raising counter slogans of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’. Badoli accused congress workers of infiltrating the meeting and orchestrating the chaos. It may be noted not just the BJP candidates but even Uchana MLA and former Haryana deputy chief minister JJP leader Dushyant Chautala faced farmers’ protest during his visit to Nara, Gamra, Khanpur and Sindhar villages of Hisar.
The farmers showed black flags to Dushyant and stopped his way when he tried to enter both villages.
After some arguments with protesters, the former deputy CM entered Nara village leaving his cars behind but the residents of Gamra village did not allow him to enter the village.
