The farmers have been camping in and around Delhi to protest against the three farm laws — the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 which allows farmers to sell their produce outside Agricultural Produce Marketing Committees (APMC) constituted by different state legislation; The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 which allows contract farming; and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill 2020 which deregulates the production, supply, distribution of food items like cereals, pulses, potatoes, onion and edible oilseeds.
Baljinder Singh Talwandi, District Press Secretary disclosed that a massive rally will be held at Ferozepur on March 15 at the grain market to show strength to the Modi government to immediately take a decision to withdraw the three farms laws.
Holding a meeting at Gurdwara Sahib of village Arif Ke, Inderjit Singh Bath, District President which was attended especially by State Vice President, Jasbir Singh Pidhi – said, we demand that the three farm laws, as well as the Electricity Bill, be repealed completely.
Farmer leaders said, the agitation has become a global mass movement and it is not now nationwide. We will not allow the Modi government to please the corporate houses by the enactment of anti-farmer laws and the agitation by the farmers will not be suppressed by blocking roads to Delhi and registering false cases against the farmers as they are ready to face any consequences. The farmers say that the laws will pave way for “corporatization” of agriculture and that they will not get a fair price for their produce.
