Farmers observe Kisan Mazdoor Ekta Diwas
New Delhi, February 27, 2021Samyukt Kisan Morcha marked today (February 27th 2021), on Sant Ravidas's birth anniversary and on the martyrdom of Chandra Sekhar Azad, as "Kisan Mazdoor Ekta Diwas".
A nagar kirtan was organised in different protest sites on this occasion. The day was also marked in other places across states. Many workers/labour unions across India extended their solidarity to the farmers' protest and termed it as an essential struggle. In a joint statement released by the Unions, they supported the Mazdoor Kisan Ekta Diwas.
After being released from jail yesterday night, labour activist Nodeep Kaur reached Singhu Border and rejoined the farmer-protestors today. Addressing the gathering here, she said that the ongoing movement has space for everyone to contribute, whether it is farmers or workers.
A 35-km long tractor trolley rally was organised today on the Sonepat-Gohana Road in Haryana by Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Samiti.
On behalf of various farmer organisations and their leaders who received show cause notices from the Commissioner of Police, Delhi, Samyukt Kisan Morcha sent a response yesterday.
“Fourteen more farmers were released on bail from jails of Delhi. In all, 78 arrested persons are out of jails as of now. SKM legal team is constantly in touch with the farmers who are in jails. We thank lawyers and organisations who are working tirelessly for this cause,” informed farmer leader Dr Darshan Pal.
SKM leaders interacted with the South India delegation of five states that came to Singhu Border after visiting other protest sites and explained to them how the current movement has unfolded so far.
