Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria launches “Haste Khelte’ Sports Kits Distribution program
Competent Foundation will distribute 175 sports kits to deprived children of Govt schools,

Chandigarh, September 11, 2024: Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria launched ‘Haste Khelte’ Sports Kits Distribution Program at PM Shri Govt Girls Model Senior Secondary School wherein players along with their coaches were presented with sports kits.
The Competent Foundation led by politician and philanthropist Sanjay Tandon has taken the initiative to promote sports at the school level along with its ongoing campaign of promoting school education.
On the occasion, while appreciating the efforts of the Competent Foundation, the Governor said that this initiative would be fruitful in bringing out the sporting talent of school children.
He emphasized that along with Government support, corporations should also sponsor Indian support for which the Competent Foundation has set an excellent example today.
Sanjay Tandon, who is also the president of the UT Cricket Association, said that under the Sports Kits Distribution Program being initiated by the Competent Foundation, as many as175 sports kits would be distributed among the deprived children showing interest in sports across all Govt schools of the city.
These sports kits are meant for Kho Kho, Football, Kabaddi, and Fencing which include players' jerseys and sports equipment.He said that this benefit will be given to the children of ten to sixteen years of low-income group families, who are unable to show their talent in sports due to financial constraints.
Expressing gratitude to the UT Administration for this program, Sanjay Tandon affirmed that with these efforts, sports at the school level in the city would get a new dimension.The children from poor families have shown excellent performance in the recently concluded gully cricket tournament organized by UTCA.
"There is a need to identify the hidden talents of these underprivileged children and corporations like Competent should come forward to nurture them. With such efforts, the 'Khelo India Games' for every age group run by the Government of India will continue to get strengthened," said Sanjay Tandon.
Present on the occasion include Rajiv Verma (IAS), Adviser to the UT Administrator, Education Secretary Abhijeet Vijay Chaudhary, Deputy Director Higher Education Amandeep Singh Bhatti, Foundation representative Priya Tandon, School Principal Manjeet Gill, Program Coordinator Umang Tandon and other dignitaries of the city.
Competent Foundation was formed in the year 2006 by former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and former Governor of Chhattisgarh late Balramji Das Tandon.
Foundation along with social upliftment, organizes blood donation camps twice a year at the national level, free treatment to poor patients in PGI and GMCH 32 and provides equipment in medical institutions to medical institutions at regular intervals.
At the time of Covid 19, the Competent Foundation proved vital by setting up a Mini Covid Care Center.
