Army Western Command, Punjab Police Assure Justice in Col Bath Thrashing Case

Chandigarh, March 25, 2025: Lt Gen Mohit Wadhwa, Chief of Staff, Army Western Command Headquarters Chandimandir and Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav addressed the media regarding the recent assault on Colonel Pushpinder Bath by police personnel in Patiala.
Lt Gen Mohit Wadhwa stated that a probe into the incident is underway, with the DGP personally supervising the investigation to ensure justice is delivered swiftly. He emphasized the need for a time-bound inquiry to hold the accused officers accountable. Additionally, he appealed to army personnel to remain calm during the process.
DGP Yadav confirmed that an FIR has already been registered based on Colonel Bath's statement, including the names of the accused officers. He said a Special Investigation Team (SIT) is conducting a daily investigation and has been instructed to expedite the process. He assured that the perpetrators would face legal action soon.
Highlighting the past coordination between the Punjab Police and the Army in combating terrorism during the early 1990s, Yadav reaffirmed the commitment to maintaining law and order. He also noted that the officers involved in the incident have been suspended.
Authorities assured the public that justice will be served promptly, maintaining transparency throughout the investigation.
