DIG solicits support of residents to check the border smuggling of drugs
Holds Sampark Meeting with residents of Fazilka District
Fazilka, March 25, 2025: Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Swapan Sharma on Tuesday held a meeting with the residents of the border district under the Sampark campaign and solicited their support for checking the cross-border smuggling of drugs.
The DIG during the meeting emphasized that active support and cooperation of the general public are pivotal for checking the scourge of drugs in the state. He said that the Sampark campaign, which was started by him in Jalandhar Police Commissionerate, is primarily aimed at enhancing people and Police contact. Swapan Sharma said that the focus of this campaign is to ensure that the menace of drugs is checked and the war against drugs is transformed into a mass campaign.
The DIG unequivocally said that the Police have already intensified the war against drugs by snapping the supply lines. He said that the big fishes involved in the heinous crime are being put behind bars but the proactive support and cooperation of the general public are the need of the hour. Mr. Swapan Sharma said that it is imperative to save the younger generations from the curse of drugs, and no stone will be left unturned in it.
The DIG asked the people to come forward and support the Police in making a drug-free Punjab. He said that the Punjab Police is committed to serving the people and no stone will be left unturned for this. Swapan Sharma said that he will continue to hold more meetings with the general public under the campaign too, for ensuring effective and responsive Policing.
