Chandigarh, December 31, 2025: Under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government remains committed to the welfare of all sections of society, with a special focus on social justice and inclusive development. In line with this vision, the government has been implementing sustained and effective measures to ensure the security, self-reliance, and dignified living of persons with disabilities, said Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr Baljit Kaur.
Sharing details, the Cabinet Minister said that the Punjab Government has so far released ₹371.84 crore as financial assistance for persons with disabilities. During the current financial year, direct benefits are being provided to 2,79,544 persons with disabilities under the scheme, offering vital financial support to thousands of families across the state.
Dr Baljit Kaur said that ensuring timely, transparent, and uninterrupted financial assistance to persons with disabilities is a top priority of the Mann Government. To this end, a provision of ₹495 crore has been made in the state budget for the ongoing financial year, ensuring that no eligible beneficiary is deprived of assistance.
She clarified that the financial assistance scheme covers persons with disabilities who are unable to earn their livelihood and have a minimum disability of 50 percent or above. The government’s focus, she said, is to ensure that assistance reaches the rightful beneficiaries, strengthening their financial security and enabling them to meet their basic needs with dignity.
Reiterating the government’s commitment, Dr Baljit Kaur said that the Mann Government aims to go beyond financial aid and is determined to integrate persons with disabilities into the mainstream by creating opportunities for self-reliance, empowerment, and a dignified life.
