Chandigarh, July 4, 2026: Punjab Congress President Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Saturday rejected speculation of infighting within the state unit, asserting that the party remains united despite recent discussions over a meeting held at former Chief Minister and MP Charanjit Singh Channi's residence.
Addressing the media, Warring said there was no reason to interpret the gathering at Channi's home as a sign of factionalism.
"Channi Sahib is our senior leader, former Chief Minister and Chairman of the Campaign Committee. If some Congress leaders meet at his residence, there is nothing unusual about it. Tomorrow, leaders may gather at my house or at Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa's residence as well. That does not mean there is a fight within the party," he said.
Warring firmly denied reports of divisions within the Punjab Congress and expressed confidence that the party's unity would soon become evident.
"There is no factionalism in the Congress. Within the next one or two days, all senior leaders will be seen together on one stage," he said.
He also said Rahul Gandhi and the Congress high command have great respect for Channi and that there is nothing wrong with the former Chief Minister meeting the party leadership.
Taking a firm stand on party discipline, Warring said no leader, including himself, is above the organisation.
"No one is allowed to cross the party's limits, even if I am the state president. Everyone must know their boundaries," he said.
While clarifying that neither Channi nor any other senior leader had acted against the party, Warring said action would be taken against those who indulge in indiscipline or make statements that harm the party.
