Cabinet Minister Aman Arora inaugurates M.R. Das Memorial; Three-Generation star alumni honoured
DCM Group of Schools marks 80 glorious years with grand valedictory celebration
Ferozepur, July 4, 2026: Celebrating eight decades of excellence in education, values and social responsibility, DCM Group of Schools organised a grand valedictory celebration to mark its 80th anniversary at the Rai Bahadur Vishnu Bhagwan Auditorium of Das & Brown World School. The event brought together eminent personalities from the fields of education, administration, politics, industry and society in a tribute to the institution's remarkable journey since its establishment in 1946.
Punjab Cabinet Minister attended the event as the chief guest. Among the distinguished guests were MLAs and senior civil and police officials, educationists and industry leaders. The function was presided over by Dr Anirudh Gupta, DCM Group CEO and renowned educationist.
The programme commenced with an impressive Guard of Honour presented by NCC cadets, followed by the inauguration of the M R DS Memorial on the 111th birth anniversary of the institution's founder and visionary educationist . The memorial has been established to honour his lifelong contribution to education and his enduring vision.
Director Administration (Retd.) Brigadier Navdeep Mathur welcomed the guests, while students captivated the audience with a devotional dance-drama dedicated to Goddess Durga.
One of the most emotional highlights of the event was an AI-powered multimedia presentation showcasing DCM Group's inspiring journey from 1946 to 2026. The presentation brought alive the institution's milestones, achievements and cherished memories, evoking nostalgia among alumni, teachers and parents.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Aniruddh Gupta said that when India was still under British rule and private schooling was almost unimaginable, M.R. Das laid the foundation of DCM Model School in 1946 with a vision of providing practical, value-based and life-oriented education. He described DCM as not merely an educational institution but a family that has consistently stood by society during challenging times, including the 1947 Partition, the 1988 floods, the Kargil War, the COVID-19 pandemic and Operation Sindoor. He added that thousands of DCM alumni are today serving with distinction across India and abroad in administration, medicine, engineering, defence, industry and education.
A special highlight of the celebration was the felicitation of Star Alumni representing three successive generations of families educated at DCM Group. They were honoured with commemorative mementoes and certificates in recognition of their enduring association with the institution.
Chief Guest Aman Arora lauded DCM Group for establishing itself as a nationally recognised centre of educational excellence despite being located in a border district. He praised the institution for creating world-class educational infrastructure just seven kilometres from the international border and commended its emphasis on skill development, robotics, artificial intelligence and future-ready education under the leadership of Dr. Aniruddh Gupta.
The Cabinet Minister also released a special coffee table book chronicling the institution's 80-year journey, highlighting its milestones, achievements and the accomplishments of distinguished alumni across the globe.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Chief Operating Officer (Retd.) Major General Veer Bhatt. Vibrant Punjabi folk performances and Bhangra by Virasat-e-Punjab artists added colour to the celebrations before the programme concluded with the National Anthem.
