New Delhi, July 4, 2026: The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Saturday extended its support to the ongoing students' protest at Jantar Mantar, backing their demands for accountability over alleged examination mismanagement, repeated paper leaks and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
In a press statement, the farmers' body said students have been protesting at Jantar Mantar for the past 15 days, while climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, along with several students, has been on an indefinite hunger strike for the last seven days. SKM alleged that despite the prolonged protest, the Central Government has not responded to the demonstrators' demands.
The organisation said it has consistently supported students and young people in their struggle for quality education and employment opportunities.
SKM recalled that its National Council had earlier passed a resolution backing the students' movement, demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and opposing what it described as the "scam culture" in the education sector under the BJP-led NDA government.
"The students and youth are the children of farmers and the future of India. The struggles of students and youth are also the struggles of farmers," the statement said.
The farmers' body announced that an SKM delegation would soon visit the protest site at Jantar Mantar, in coordination with the organisers of the agitation, to express solidarity with the protesting students.
SKM also appealed to students, youth, farmers, workers and citizens across the country to join the protest and support the demand for greater accountability from the government over examination irregularities and paper leak cases.
