Punjab School Education Secretary submits report to SC Commission over Reservation Policy concerns in lecturer recruitment

Chandigarh, July 4, 2026: The Secretary of the Punjab School Education Department has submitted a report to the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission regarding alleged non-compliance with the reservation policy for Scheduled Caste candidates in the Education Department’s recruitment process for lecturer posts.
Providing details, Jasvir Singh Garhi, Chairman of the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission, said the matter came to the Commission’s notice following concerns over the recruitment advertisement issued by the Education Department’s Recruitment Board.
Taking cognisance of the issue, the Commission had directed Secretary, School Education, Sonali Giri, to appear before it in person on July 3, 2026.
Garhi said Sonali Giri appeared before the Commission as directed and submitted documents explaining the alleged non-availability of vacancies for Scheduled Caste candidates in the ongoing lecturer recruitment process.
He said the Commission will examine the documents submitted by the School Education Department within 72 hours, after which it will issue appropriate orders in the matter.
The issue pertains to the implementation of the reservation policy for Scheduled Castes in the recruitment of lecturers by the Punjab School Education Department.
