Jind (Haryana), July 17, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday lauded the BJP-led Haryana government, saying the state was witnessing rapid development under Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and the Centre's "double-engine" governance model. The Prime Minister made the remarks while addressing a public rally in Jind after flagging off India's first hydrogen-powered train and unveiling development projects worth over ₹14,000 crore.
Praising the Haryana government, Modi said it was working on the principle of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas" and delivering welfare measures for youth, farmers and women.
He also highlighted the state's transparent recruitment process, claiming the BJP government had ended the era of 'kharchi-parchi' (bribes and recommendations) in government jobs.
Calling the launch of the hydrogen train a landmark achievement, the Prime Minister said Jind and Haryana had secured a place in the country's railway history. He described the 3,200 HP hydrogen train, operating on the Jind-Sonipat route, as the world's most powerful and longest hydrogen-powered train, adding that it was designed by Indian engineers and built under the 'Make in India' initiative.
Modi said the hydrogen rail project would pave the way for new industries and employment opportunities as supporting infrastructure expands across the region.
The Prime Minister also dedicated projects worth more than ₹14,000 crore, including railway, highway and heritage infrastructure works, besides inaugurating two new medical colleges. He also handed over keys to beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural).
Highlighting Haryana's infrastructure growth, Modi said the inauguration of the Haryana section of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, the Jind-Gohana National Highway, and the Ambala-Kala Amb four-lane highway would improve connectivity, reduce transportation costs for farmers and businesses, boost tourism and generate employment.
The Prime Minister also praised the public response to the 'Swachhata Se Swagat' campaign, urging people to make cleanliness an integral part of their daily lives.
Speaking on sports, Modi said India was preparing to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games and the 2036 Olympic Games, while assuring full support to athletes under various government initiatives.
Reaffirming the Centre's commitment to farmers' welfare, the Prime Minister said Haryana's farmers had received nearly ₹8,000 crore under the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi, including over ₹600 crore for beneficiaries in Jind district.
