PM Modi launches Rs 5,470-crore projects in Jalandhar; Watch Video

Jalandhar (Punjab), July 17, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth ₹5,470 crore in Jalandhar, while also flagging off the Amritsar–Varanasi Express during his visit to Punjab.
After concluding his engagements in Chandigarh, the Prime Minister arrived in Jalandhar wearing a green turban, symbolically associated with the farming community.
Before flagging off the Sir Goverdhanpur–Varanasi Express, which will operate between Chheharta (Amritsar) and Varanasi, Modi interacted with schoolchildren gathered at the venue.
Following the inauguration, the Prime Minister also met Sant Niranjan Das, head of Dera Sachkhand Ballan, aboard the train.
