Johal sent to 2-day police remand in 2016 RSS shakha firing case
Ludhiana, December 2, 2017: A local court on ordered 2-day police remand for the UK national Jagtar Singh Johal in 2016 case of firing at RSS Shakha, Kidwai Nagar, Ludhiana.
Johal was produced before the court of Judicial Magistrate Gurpreet Kaur. The police had requested for 10-day remand but the Judge rejected it and ordered 2-day police remand, said Jaspal Singh Manjhpur, the counsel for Johal.
The firing at the RSS Shakha had taken place on January 18, 2016.
Earlier in the day, Johal was produced before the court of Judicial Magistrate Sumit Sabharwal who rejected the police request for extension of his police remand for another 5 days in the case related to killing of Pastor Sultan Masih of Ludhiana, added Manjhpur.
He was was ordered to be sent to judicial custody. Johal had been in the police remand in this case since November 17, 2017.
