Johal sent to 4-day remand in Gosain case, Defence seeks his mental checkup
Mohali, December 22, 2017: Special NIA Court, Mohali on Friday sent Jagtar Singh Johal aka Jaggi to 4-day police remand.
Special Judge Anshul Berry after taking up the NIA request, ordered 4-day remand in target killing case of Ludhiana-based RSS leader Ravinder Gosain.
The next hearing of the case is fixed for December 26.
The Judge had earlier ordered Johal’s judicial custody till January 20 in the case related to the killing of Shiv Sena leader Durga Dass Gupta.
Johal’s defence counsel Jaspal Singh Manjhpur also moved an application in the court seeking directions to the Senior Medical Officer (SMO), Mohali to constitute a medical board including a psychiatrist and a psychologist to look into mental health of Johal.
Manjhpur said that in another application, he sought start of proceedings in all the cases in which Johal was required by the NIA instead of adopting tactics of prolonging his police remand one case or the other.
