Meritorious students join SSP Khanna for an inspiring day under Punjab’s ‘Ek Din, DC/SSP De Sang’ initiative

Khanna (Punjab), May 28, 2025: In a heartening and inspiring moment under the Punjab Government’s ambitious initiative, Ek Din, DC/SSP De Sang (A Day with DC/SSP), Amandeep Kaur, Taranveer Singh, and Niharika Gujral, top-three meritorious students from district on Wednesday had the privilege of spending a day with Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khanna, Dr. Jyoti Yadav Bains.
Amandeep Kaur from the Residential School for Meritorious Students and Niharika Gujral from Shaheed E Azam Sukhdev Thapar Government Girls School of Eminence both achieved an impressive 98.40% in their 12th class results, while Taranveer Singh from Government Senior Secondary School, Sekhewal, scored a commendable 98%. They had an exclusive opportunity to gain insights into the workings of the Punjab Police by spending a day with SSP Khanna.
The day began with SSP Dr. Jyoti Yadav Bains warmly welcoming the students and sharing her inspiring journey to becoming an IPS officer.
She spoke about the challenges, dedication, and passion needed for serving in one of India’s most prestigious services, motivating the students to pursue their dreams with determination and resilience.
She emphasized the importance of discipline, hard work, and public service, leaving a lasting impression on the young minds.
The students were then taken on an extensive tour of key facilities under the Khanna Police jurisdiction. They visited the state-of-the-art Integrated Command and Control Centre, where they learnt about the advanced technology and systems used for real-time monitoring through CCTVs.
At the Khanna Traffic Cell, they were briefed on traffic management system and the role of technology in ensuring road safety.
The students also explored the Punjab Police Mahila Mitra initiative, which focuses on empowering women and addressing gender-based issues, as well as the Khanna Digital Map, a tool used for strategic planning and crime mapping.
The tour concluded at the Control Room, where the students gained insights into police operations, including emergency responses and coordination with various departments. Further, the students were also detailed about the complaint redressal system.
Throughout the visit, SSP Bains and her team provided detailed explanations about the functioning of the SSP’s office and the various wings of the Punjab Police.
Later, a special lunch was hosted by SSP Bains for the students, where she answered their questions, and shared anecdotes from her career. At the end, SSP felicitated Amandeep Kaur, Taranveer Singh, and Niharika Gujral for their outstanding academic achievements and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence in their future endeavours.
The students also expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Jyoti Yadav Bains for her warmth, guidance, and invaluable opportunity to learn about the police force. They also praised the Punjab Government for conceptualizing the Ek Din, DC/SSP De Sang program, which provides meritorious students with a platform to interact with senior officials and gain exposure to governance and public administration.
Amandeep Kaur remarked that her experience has been truly exciting, and the workings of the Punjab Police have motivated her to work harder and contribute to society.Taranveer Singh expressed his gratitude to the Punjab Government for this unique initiative and stated that it inspires him to explore a career in public service.
Niharika Gujral shared similar feelings, stating that today's visit has provided her with a new perspective on the role of the police in our society, and she is thankful for this unforgettable opportunity.
