SCF highlights civic issues; takes up concerns with authorities
Ferozepur, July 28, 2025 – The monthly meeting of the Senior Citizen Forum, Ferozepur, was held at the Ram Bagh Old Age Home in the cantonment area under the leadership of Forum President Pardeep Dhawan. A large number of office-bearers and active members from both Ferozepur City and Cantonment participated in the gathering.
Before the meeting began, students from the Gurukul in Ram Bagh — hailing from various Indian states — planted a variety of saplings under an initiative to promote environmental conservation. The plantation drive was organized in collaboration with officials from the Forest Department, and the management team of Ram Bagh including Harish Goel and Professor Goel, along with the Senior Citizen Forum team. The responsibility for nurturing these plants was taken up by the children and the Acharya of the Gurukul.
During the meeting, discussions were held on various civic issues, including the repair of broken roads and the sewage system in the city and cantonment, the need to manage stray animals to prevent accidents, and requests to extend the Delhi-Moga and Delhi-Bathinda trains up to Ferozepur Cantonment. The formation of a new committee for the Cantonment unit of the Forum was also deliberated.
On this occasion, the Forum distributed essential items to the elderly residents and children of the Ram Bagh Old Age Home and provided financial assistance to its managing committee. Gifts were also presented to members whose birthdays fall in July.
Several members addressed the gathering including President Pardeep Dhawan, Satish Kumar Puri, Desh Bandhu Tuli, Harish Goel, Professor Goel, Ashok Kakad, Prem Nath Rasia, Baldev Sachdeva, Pardeep Rana, Parveen Dhawan, Bihari Lal Jaiswal, Dham Lal Kakad, Sham Lal Gakhar, Yoginder Nath Kakad, M.R. Handa, S.P. Khurana, Gurdev Singh Mittal, Dr. Surinder Singh, Rajbir Singh Brar, and Kanwarjit Sharma.
New members Ashik Puri, Uday Prakash, and Ashok Babbar were welcomed into the Forum. They assured their active support in forming a new committee in the cantonment. The proceedings were coordinated by General Secretary of the Forum, Mohinder Singh Dhaliwal. Other prominent attendees included Tilak Raj Aeri, Avtar Singh Bhola, Gurnam Singh, and Darshan Sachdeva.
