Jalandhar (Punjab), May 30, 2025: In a major crackdown under the Punjab government’s anti-drug campaign “Yudh Nashian Virudh” led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar, in coordination with Commissionerate Police, demolished an illegal structure belonging to two notorious drug smugglers in Rama Mandi locality on Friday.
Sharing the details, Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur said the demolished property was illegally constructed by brothers Bunty and Shanty, both of whom have 12 criminal cases registered against them, including several under the NDPS Act. Shanty is currently lodged in jail.
Acting on the information, a joint team of the Municipal Corporation and Police, led by ACP Babanderp Singh (Jalandhar Cantt.), swiftly razed the encroachment, sending a clear message that drug-linked illegal activities will not be tolerated in Jalandhar.
Kaur further added that both individuals are habitual offenders, each with six NDPS cases, and today's action aims to dismantle the financial infrastructure supporting their illegal operations.
The ongoing drive has already led to the demolition of several properties across the district, and the administration reiterated its commitment to continue such actions against drug traffickers.
The police have urged the public to come forward with any information and support efforts to make Jalandhar a drug-free city.
