Elderly farmer from Gurdaspur dies at Shambhu border

Gurdaspur, February 16, 2024: A 65-year-old Punjab farmer, who was at the Shambhu border with thousands of other farmers participating in the 'Dilli Chalo' protest, died early Friday morning from a heart attack. The deceased has been identified as Gian Singh who was from Chacheki village in Gurdaspur district.
As told by his nephew Jagdish Singh to Indian Express, Gian Singh was sleeping in a trolley along with five other farmers about a kilometre away from the Shambhu barrier site when he reported feeling uneasy at around 3 am.
He was rushed to Rajpura Civil Hospital where he was referred to Rajinder Medical College, Patiala. He died during treatment at hospital at around 7:45 am.
