Women’s special participation in elections is necessary: Dr Nidhi
Election department holds seminar dedicated to Int’l Women’s Day
Ferozepur, 07 March 2024: Keeping in view the importance of women voting now and according to the instructions of the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, an International Women's Day event dedicated to the topic of women's participation in elections was organized at the District Administrative Complex on the guidelines of the District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman. During this event, ADC Dr Nidhi Kumud Bamba attended as the chief guest.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr.Nidhi, ADC said that the special participation of women in elections is very important because women are the first teachers of children as mothers and women have the main role in building a good citizen and society.
She said that it is a major achievement of our electoral process and our democracy that the active participation of women in the democratic process is continuously increasing. Women voters are also contributing equally to men in elections. She said that from Gram Panchayat to Parliament, women have an important contribution. Their participation and numbers should increase further. She said that not only one day but all days are dedicated to women.
Essay competitions were conducted in different colleges of Ferozepur on the occasion of International Women's Day and 18 winners were awarded. On this occasion, 25 women with achievements in different fields were also honoured. On this occasion, Dr. Aradhana Lecturer D.A.V. College delivered a keynote speech on the event.
During the event, Election Tehsildar Chand Prakash, Secretary Red Cross Ashok Behal, Election Kanungo, Gagandeep Kaur, District Sweep Coordinator Dr. Satinder Singh, Sweep Coordinator Lakhwinder Singh, Kamal Sharma, Sarabjit Singh Bhavra, Principal Dev Samaj College for Women Dr. Sangeeta Sharma, Principal DSCW, Dr. Rajwinder Kaur, Principal, DSCE, social worker Vipul Narang, heads of various schools, colleges, representatives of non-governmental organizations, Anganwadi workers, members of youth services and clubs were also present.
