Seminar on Voter Awareness held at SCF meeting under SVEEP campaign
Ferozepur, March 27, 2024: Under the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Reform (SVEEP) campaign ahead of Lok Sabha elections on June 1 in Punjab state, an awareness seminar was held at the monthly meeting of Senior Citizens Forum (SCF) at Baghban Bhawan in the city.
The Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Reform (SVEEP) program has been working since 2009 to educate Indian voters and equip them with basic election knowledge. The program aims to build a more participative democracy in India by encouraging eligible citizens to vote and make informed decisions during elections.
The Election Department organized the Seminar. During the meeting, Pardeep Dhawan, President Senior Citizens Forum welcomed the SVEEP Icon, Harish Monga, who elaborated on the schedule of the Lok Sabha election and also emphasized the importance of women's participation in the electoral process.
He spoke on ‘Chunav Ka Parv, Desh Ka Garv’. An interactive session followed wherein he highlighted the Importance of Voting and said that the Right to Vote is a constitutional right guaranteed under Article 326. Voting enables citizens to be involved in electing a democratic form of Government. He said senior citizens are already aware of the electoral process in India and the value of their one vote in choosing their representatives.
The SVEEP Icon said, winners sometimes that every single vote has its importance and is sometimes a deciding factor as only with one single vote, the candidates were declared as winners. In such a situation, we must cast our vote to elect the right candidate and also campaign in your circle so that maximum participation in the coming Lok Sabha elections, is achieved, crossing the previous records.
