Youth Voter Awareness Seminar Ignites Civic Engagement at SUS University Constituent College
Ferozepur, March 27, 2024: In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Punjab, a dynamic voter awareness seminar took place at Shaheed Udham Singh Punjab University Constituent College Mohan K Hithar. Under the guidance of Assistant Returning Officer-cum -SDM Gagandeep Singh, Election Tehsildar Chand Parkash Nodal Officer Dr Satinder Singh and in alignment with the Election Commission of India's directives, the seminar aimed to empower young voters and celebrate their crucial role in democracy.
Led by Principal Dr. Sunil Khosla, the seminar featured distinguished speakers including Dr. Sarabjit Kaur from Guru Ramdas Education College Jalalabad and BDPO Prabhajit Singh from Guru Har Sahai. The speakers passionately emphasized the significance of voting, urging youth to actively participate and mobilize high voter turnouts, particularly in areas with historically low participation.
The event, facilitated by Prof. Reena, not only educated students on democratic principles but also honoured winners of the SVEEP mehndi competition and rangoli decoration competition. Prof. Gurmeet Singh and other faculty members further instilled a sense of pride in democratic traditions with voter pledge among attendees.
With a focus on civic responsibility and engagement, the seminar at Shaheed Udham Singh University Constituent College served as a catalyst for informed and empowered youth participation in the democratic process.
