Fazilka police fully geared up to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections

Fazilka, March 31, 2024: The district police are up in arms with full preparations so that people can cast their votes without any fear, fear and greed during the Lok Sabha elections and the elections are conducted in a completely peaceful and fair manner.
SSP Dr Pragya Jain said, given the elections, major actions have been taken against anti-social elements in the district during the last 7 days by holding an inter-state meeting under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Dr Senu Duggal for better coordination between the civil and police administration and the districts of neighbouring states. Apart from this, flag marches have also been taken out by the district police at different places to restore confidence among the people and the district police chief was also seen leading these flag marches.
Added here, the 79 km border of Fazilka district touching Rajasthan and 24 checkpoints have been installed to prevent mischievous elements from the neighbouring state from influencing the election process while two hi-tech checkpoints have also been installed on the inter-state border.
Dr Pragya Jain said that 14 people have been arrested by registering 10 cases under the NDPS Act in the district from March 24 till date and recovery of 9.955 kg of heroin, 16.500 kg of poppy and 420 drug pills and drug money worth Rs.20700. Similarly, under the Excise Act, 13 cases have been registered during the last seven days and 15 persons have been arrested, from whom 162 litres of illegal liquor 483 litres of illicit liquor and 2320 litres of liquor have been recovered.
Action has also been initiated by the district police against people of habitual criminal tendencies who can influence the election process and in the last seven days 22 persons have been booked under section 107/151/150 CrPC. Two persons have been booked under Section 109 and 13 persons under Section 110 CrPC. Similarly, six fugitives have been caught while the list of 50 fugitives with simple crimes has been dismissed. Apart from this, 24 criminals with non-bailable warrants have also been arrested by various police stations in the last seven days.
In the same way, 1407 weapons have been deposited with the district police in the last seven days. Three accused have been arrested along with 11 stolen motorcycles Rs. 32100 rupees have been recovered by arresting 13 people under the Gambling Act within a week.
SSP Jain said that the district police is working diligently for fair and peaceful elections as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India and issued a stern warning to the anti-social elements saying that anyone who stands in the way of the law will be dealt with and strict legal action will be taken.
