Ferozepur, October 11,2021: At the call of All India Congress Party, the Congress workers today observed a nationwide ‘maun vrat’ – ‘silent protest’ at the district headquarters from 11 am to 1 pm against the Lakhimpur Kheri violence, the Congress workers in Ferozepur in front of the BSNL office and demanded the resignation of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Sharma. The protesters were holding the placards in their hands read as – Justice for farmers killed in UP and sack Ajay Mishra.
Added here, as many as eight people including four farmers had died in the violence that took place on October 3. Uttar Pradesh police have so far arrested three people including Ashish Mishra, who is the son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra Teni. The Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls are scheduled to be held in early 2022.
The Congress istaging ‘maun vrat’ at the district headquarters demanding the resignation of Ajay Mishra and in Ferozepur, was led by Gurcharan Singh Nahar, District President. It is unfortunate that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not spoken word on this incident and it shows his insensitivity towards farmers, said one of the protesting workers.
