‘Rail-Roko’ Protest: KMSC block railway tracks at 5 places in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, October 18, 2021: As many as, 50 trains and 130 locations were affected in Punjab and Haryana, due to six-hour-long nationwide ‘rail-roko’ agitation call by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), the train traffic was jammed at five places in Ferozepur districts by Kisan Mazodoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC). The farmers started blocking railway tracks at 5.15 am in Ferozepur unscheduled by the announcement of 10 am to 4 pm.
The railway tracks were blocked at five places at Basti Tankan Wala (Ferozepur), Mallanwala railway station, Jhoke Tehal Singh Wala, Makhu near Talwandi Nepalan Gate and Talwandi Bhai Haraj. However, the farmers had made elaborate arrangements of ‘langar’ for the convenience of passengers at the railway stations/tracks.
District President, KMSC Inderjit Singh Bath and District Secretary Sahib Singh Dineke said that the Modi government at the Center was constantly ignoring the farmers and labourers and wanted to take over the agriculture sector and corporate houses across the country and the farmers are being harassed instead of repealing the black laws.
The farmer leaders also condemned the Lakhimpur Khiri incident killing 8 people including four farmers saying and demanded the dismissal of Union Minister Ajay Mishra. The farmers also threatened to intensify the agitation, in case no action is taken by the central government.
