Union Budget 2026-27
NDA Government’s budget to transform Punjab; Railway infrastructure seeing unprecedented reform: Rana Sodhi
New Era of prosperity for Punjab’s youth and infrastructure, says Rana Sodhi
Ferozepur, February 07, 2026: Senior BJP leader and Central Executive Member, Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi, today lauded the Union Budget, hailing it as a transformative roadmap that fulfills the long-standing aspirations of Punjab.
Addressing a press conference in Ferozepur, Sodhi emphasized that the budget’s strategic focus on youth and sports will significantly benefit the state, which has historically been the cradle of world-class athletic talent. He noted that the central government has provided a golden opportunity for the youth of Punjab to excel on the national and international stage.
Sodhi described the budget as a "reform-oriented and citizen-centric" document that reinforces the government's commitment to sustainable development. By prioritizing logistics, energy security, and domestic manufacturing, the budget aims to create a robust ecosystem for self-employment. He further highlighted that the special provisions for MSMEs and women’s empowerment would act as a catalyst for economic growth, providing entrepreneurs with the necessary support to launch new ventures and strengthen the state’s industrial base.
Highlighting the massive leap in infrastructure development, Sodhi shared comparative data regarding the railway sector. He revealed that for the year 2026-27, Punjab has been allocated a record-breaking ₹5,673 crore for railway development. This stands in stark contrast to the UPA era, where between 2009 and 2014, the state received a total of only ₹225 crore over five years. He stated that this massive investment underscores the NDA's dedication to enhancing passenger facilities and modernizing rail connectivity across every state.
The BJP leader further informed the press that the redevelopment of 30 railway stations in Punjab is currently proceeding on a war footing to provide world-class amenities to commuters. Additionally, he celebrated the achievement of 100% electrification of all railway tracks within the state, a move that aligns with the government’s green energy goals. Sodhi asserted that these tangible improvements are a testament to the efficient governance and vision of the Prime Minister’s leadership.
Dismissing the criticism from the Opposition as "false propaganda," Sodhi urged the public not to be misled by misinformation. He categorically stated that the interests of the farming community remain a top priority and that the government would not enter into any international agreements that would compromise the welfare of Indian farmers. He concluded by reiterating that the BJP remains focused on independent growth in the state and is fully prepared to contest all seats on its own strength, moving forward without any current discussions on political alliances.
