Sacrilege Report: Former CM Badal was fully aware of Police action against Sikh protesters
Chandigarh, August 27, 2018: The final report of Justice (retd) Ranjit Singh Commission, has concluded that former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had the full knowledge of the police action against the Sikhs protesting against sacrilege incidents.
The former CM was in constant touch with the then DGP Sumedh Saini and the district authorities of Faridkot, said the report which has already been rejected by Badal’s party Shiromani Akali Dal has already rejected the report.
The debate on the report, which has been tabled in the Punjab Assembly, is scheduled for Tuesday August 28, 2018.
The Sikh protesters on dharna against incidents of sacrilege were forced to disperse by the police while resorting to firing at Behbal Kalan and Kot Kapura. “... chief minister Shri Parkash Singh Badal was in touch with the DGP as well as the district administration and cannot be considered ignorant about the action which was finally taken by the police at Kot Kapura,” said the report.
Though asked, Badal had not given his version by deposing before the Commission.
Two persons were killed in the police firing on the protesters at Behbal Kalan.
