Chandigarh, September 15, 2018: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has upheld its earlier decision directing the state government to allow Akali Dal to go ahead with its proposed September 16 rally at Faridkot.
In the late evening decision, the Single Bench of Justice RK Jain disposed of the review application filed by the State of Punjab and allowed the rally at the scheduled venue with some conditions related to traffic routes and carrying of arms.
The Bench ordered that no person participating in the rally would go nearby the protest venue at Bargari. It was also ordered that no person attending rally would carry arms.
About traffic diversion, the Bench ordered that Bajakhana to Kotkapura road via Bargari will remain closed and alternate Bajakhana to Faridkot route via Jaito would be allowed.
The old route of Kotkapura to Faridkot will remain shut whereas the alternate route of New Highway from Kotkapura to Faridkot will be allowed.
