Sri Anandpur Sahib (Punjab), November 21, 2025 — The Punjab government has announced a five-day holiday for all schools in the Sri Anandpur Sahib block in view of the large gatherings expected for the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.
Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that all schools in the region will remain closed from November 22 to November 26. The decision has been taken to ensure the safety of students and staff as thousands of devotees are arriving to participate in the historic commemorative events.
The minister stated that a massive inflow of devotees has already begun, and the crowd is expected to multiply in the coming days. Authorities anticipate significant traffic congestion and movement restrictions around the town, making it difficult for students to commute safely.
According to the government, the temporary closure is essential to avoid any inconvenience or risk to schoolchildren, parents, and teachers amid the anticipated rush. The holidays will also help maintain smooth traffic management and reduce pressure on local infrastructure during the commemorations.
All schools in the Sri Anandpur Sahib block will resume normal functioning after November 26.
